Design[ edit ] The Model was the first Winchester rifle to feature a box magazine located underneath the action instead of the tubular magazine design, which had remained fundamentally unchanged from the Winchester This allowed the rifle to safely chamber military and hunting cartridges with spitzer pointed bullets. The M was also the last of the lever-action rifles to be designed by John Browning , and featured a rear locking bolt as in his previous designs dating back to the Winchester The M is the strongest lever-action rifle Winchester has produced, designed to handle the increased pressures generated by the more powerful smokeless powder cartridges entering common use at the time of its introduction. By serial number , it is thought that the last of the flat sided M s left the factory. These early rifles are now exceedingly rare. The United States ordered 10, in caliber. SOLVED: Browning BT what year is my shotgun serial
By Randy Wakeman The Browning A-5, the most important semi-automatic shotgun ever made, is likely also one of the most misunderstood shotguns, despite its year history. There is an amazing amount of misinformation and misunderstanding about what it was, what it is and what it does. Although at its best in the field, the A-5 won its fair share of National Skeet Championships in the form of the Remington Model It was not designed to be quickly completely disassembled.
The ultra-thin screws of the Belgian A-5 served as a deterrent to the would-be home gunsmith. Likely more A-5’s have been damaged by amateur smithing attempts than any other gun.

I had been a loyal 94 follower and had tried most of the calibers and variations. Something struck me wrong about the closing of the plant and I was soon out of the Winchester ownership program. One day I heard about the new. Upon firing both, I found the chambers to be to rough and actually had fired rounds brass seize up in the chambers. Both had to have the chamber polished out! I did a little research and found others who had the same problem.

We are pleased to provide you with a general overview of the legendary relationship between the Browning Company and the world-renowned firearms manufacturer Miroku. The Browning company has always had a tradition of using the finest manufacturers in the world to produce their designs. This began with John Moses Browning who established the original manufacturing relationship with Fabrique Nationale in Belgium at the end of the 19th Century.
So it was only natural that the Browning company would be on the lookout for a similar manufacturer to enhance the manufacturing capabilities of Browning in the second half of the 20th century. As told in this story, that manufacturer turned out to be the Miroku company of Kochi Japan. It was all a mix of a little bit of luck along with some remarkable foresight by Browning and Miroku management.

This was one of the first over-and-under shotguns to be put into mass production, and originally called the Superposed. Browning then designed a shotgun more suited for fowl hunting. FN balked until Browning lowered the price — twice. The Superposed was originally produced from , though prototypes were available as early as ; World War Two interrupted production until , and continued until Original production was with Grade I walnut with non-engraved receivers, and a blued or grayed finish.
John Browning that the Superposed be an affordable alternative to other hunting shotguns IRL, the higher versions of the Superposed could cost big bucks. The original Superposeds had twin triggers which allowed the shotgun to be fired one barrel at a time or both barrels simultaneously. John Browning could never quite perfect the single, selective trigger; the task was not achieved until his son solved the problem, and it was incorporated into existing Superposed manufacturing.
The Superposed turned out to be the last firearm designed and supervised by John Browning. He had a fatal heart attack in The timing could not have been worse — in the stock market crashed, and a big tariff was laid upon the imported shotguns.

As you can tell from the responses, everyone has their own opinions on which is better, and why they think so. I can only add my own experience and you will still have to decide for yourself which way you want to go. The one gun I have not owned is a Kolar, mainly because after shooting one to see if I wanted to buy one, it felt slow and sluggish to me and just didn’t feel right from the very start so I decided to pass on buying one. I do know several Kolar owners, and, other than some trigger problems, particularly with release triggers, they experienced, the guns seem to be very reliable.
That being said, I shoot an early model Perazzi DB Combo that has never experienced a trigger problem other than 1 broken leaf spring in over 2 years. Prior to that, I owned a MX Combo.
